LIFELONG LEARNING IS AN ADVENTURE!
I have been working over three decades as a teacher of English and as a teacher trainer in in-service education. I have been active in curriculum development work, materials design, and research work which I am doing for Oulu University (Affordances of Dialogical Learning Environment).
As a teacher of English, I have been developing content- and task-based methodologies and as a teacher trainer conveying my own enthusiasm for CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) to help teachers and students develop more confidence in spoken and written English.
My positions as a project leader in numerous national and international teacher training programs have enabled me to get to know teachers all over Finland and in Europe. In addition to the international projects, my experiences as a Fulbright teacher in the USA teaching American and World Literature and as a teacher trainer in the Arab Emirates have helped me encourage educators for international communication and learning by doing.
One of my main interests has always been evaluation and assessment. I started my work as a member of the Coordination Team of the EMCL (European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe) in 2017 my responsibility area being assessment.
I have been awarded the prize of the English Teacher of the Year 2015 by the Embassy of the USA in Finland & the League of Finnish-American Societies, the prize of European Label: The Language Teacher of the year 2010, and the Successful Humanities Teacher by the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, 2009.
My objective is to teach with interest and open mindedness to make learning enjoyable and a journey of discovery.
