Elina Ontero

I have been working with children and youngsters in different learning environments by using methods of learning-by-doing and expressive arts. My interest is not only using arts and crafts for teaching and learning different subjects but also using them as a form of therapy for children, especially for those with special needs.

Expressive arts have great effects on children’s normal development offering them enjoyable activities which accelerate the growth process. With my learners I use various arts—movement, drawing, painting, sculpting, music, writing, sound, and improvisation to help them discover themselves through any art form that comes from an emotional depth.

I am eager to share my knowledge and skills with teachers and student teachers at all levels, from early childhood education and care to upper secondary level, by offering courses and workshops on expressive arts as a teaching and learning method and as a therapy.
